July 29, 2010: Caroline S. Wong was appointed to the Hawaii State Board of Education by Gov. Linda Lingle on Sunday, July 25, 2010. Wong succeeds Breene Harimot, who resigned in June, 2010. Wong will be on the Board for a temporary period, until a new member is elected in the November, 2010, General Election to be in office for the remaining two years of Harimoto’s term. Wong previously worked for the state's Department of Education for 40 years, and she was the principal of the Moanalua Middle School from 1991 until she retired in 2009.
