| July 29, 2010: Members of the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, appointed longtime insurance industry member John G. Franchini as the new Superintendent of Insurance, according to The Santa Fe New Mexican. Franchini, who was one of five finalists, is scheduled to start work in mid-August, 2010. He will be paid $100,000 per year to regulate insurance companies in the state. Franchini was previously the vice president of government and industry affairs for the New Mexico Mutual Group. He was also the vice president of Brown and Brown of New Mexico from 1998 to 2002. He has worked in the insurance field for nearly 40 years. Former Insurance Superintendent Mo Chavez resigned in May, 2010. |
