What is Real-time XML?
XML (Extensible Markup Language) is a language that has become a standard way of accommodating data transfer between disparate platforms and environments via the Web. It is classified as an extensible language because it allows its users to define their own elements. One if its primary uses has been to help information systems share content-based, self-defined data- particularly via the Internet.

Real-time XML Delivery was developed by Carroll Publishing using SOAP/XML for data delivery. SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) acts as an envelope for the data while XML (eXtensible Markup Language) provides a way of tagging or defining the data elements according to their meaning and content.
